Emphasis is on the functional aspects of individual and group behavior. It will focus on Psychology as a discipline within the Behavioral Sciences and its relationship to Anthropology and Sociology. This course addresses the ways in which psychological science can help us understand ourselves and adjust and cope with the many challenges we face on a personal, societal, and global perspective. Topics include personality theories, stress and coping, psychological factors and health, social influence, gender and sexual orientation, psychological disorders, and therapeutic ways of helping.
