    Description
    This course is an introduction to the legal system of the United States as it relates specifically to the political power, ethical issues, and multiple functions of the judicial branch. Detailed emphasis will be placed on the case history of the Supreme Court and state courts by analyzing civil liberties protections, civil rights guarantees, and other controversies related to law and justice. The varying sources of law, role of the law in our society, and different types of law will be explored during lectures, discussions, and classroom activities. Focus will also be paid to the continuing evolution of the judicial branch and criminal justice system.
