    Description
    This course covers major events and cultural trends in the historical evolution of Western civilization from the 16th century to the 21st century. It analyzes historical events from the perspective of the people in power as well as those on the periphery. Analysis of revolutions, wars, and social movements will be a point of emphasis. Topics will include, but are not limited to: French, Russian, Scientific, and Industrial Revolution; the Protestant Reformation and the Wars of Religion; French absolutism, English constitutionalism, war trade and empire; nationalism, imperial rivalry, and the world wars; the fall of communism and modern Europe.
