Transfers ToUC and CSUCal-GETC Area 3B · IGETC Area 3B · CSU GE Area C2DescriptionThis course is designed to offer students the opportunity to read widely and deeply in a selection of contemporary African American authors, beginning with the slave narrative, to the Harlem Renaissance, to the Civil Rights Movement, and ultimately to the cultural explosion of African-American Hip Hop Poets and artists of today. Students will be introduced to standard techniques of literary analysis as well as to the unique history and power of African American fiction, poetry, and plays.
