Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course will examine the development of social identities in diverse societies including theoretical and practical implications affecting young children, families, programs, teaching, education and schooling. Various classroom strategies will be explored emphasizing culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate anti- bias approaches supporting all children in becoming competent members of a diverse society. Course includes examination on issues related to social identity, stereotypes and bias, social and educational access, media and schooling. Course also involves self-reflection of one's own understanding of educational principles in integrating anti-goals in order to better inform teaching practices and/or program development.
