Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course surveys America's mass communications systems and how they affect human behavior in relation to social, political, and economic institutions. Newspapers, magazines, television, advertising, public relations, radio, records, and movies and how they affect us as members of society will be studied. This history, sociology, operation, regulation by society, and financing will be included. Students will gain an understanding of the ways media have been and are used to influence, manipulate, and reflect the society and special interest groups within the society and they will become more critical media consumers.
