- equivalent. In this course, the student examines current and relevant nursing issues within the context of historical development of organized nursing. Students explore legal/ ethical responsibilities, economic concerns, and educational issues as they affect the emergence of the modern nurse and discuss the nurse's role as a contributing member of the discipline and the community.
