    Description
    Prerequisite: BIOLOGY 003 or 006; and CHEM 051 or 060 or 101 or PHYSIOL 001 or equivalent with a grade of "C" or better. This course introduces students to bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa, and multicel- lular parasites. Students examine microbial morphology, metabolism, genetics and growth, then apply these concepts to infectious diseases and biotechnology. Immunology and the microbiology of food, water, and soil are also included in 241
