    May be offered as an honors section. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Intermediate Algebra or equivalent or higher or placement into transfer-level math/quantitative reasoning course. Students learn the principles of economics focusing on aggregate economic analy- sis. Topics discussed include the market system of resource allocation, measure- ment of GDP, the problems of unemployment and inflation, stabilization policy, and macroeconomic controversies. The global economy, fundamentals of mar- kets, national income accounting and macroequilibrium, economic growth and business cycles, fiscal and monetary policies, money and financial institutions, international trade and finance are emphasized.
