    May be offered as an honors section. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Intermediate Algebra or equivalent or higher or placement into transfer-level math/quantitative reasoning course. Students learn the principles of economic analysis and decision-making from the viewpoint of the individual consumer, worker, and firm. Emphasis is placed on the price system allocation of resources and income, supply and demand analysis, the structure of industry, and the application of economic principles to current poli- cies and social problems. Students review the global economy, fundamentals of markets, comparative advantage and international trade, elasticity of demand and supply, the effects of taxes and price controls on market outcomes, factor markets, production costs, market structures, game theory, market failure, and public goods. ECON 001 IS NOT A PREREQUISITE FOR THIS COURSE.
