    Formerly CO SCI 536. Credit not given for both courses. Corequisite: Concurrent enrollment in CS 213 or CS 216 or CO SCI 540 or CO SCI 552. Previous completion of CS 213 or CS 216 or CO SCI 540 or CO SCI 552 with a grade of "C" or better is allowable. This course is an introduction to data structures and their applications. Students examine the role of the abstract data type in object-oriented programming design; recursion; sorting and searching algorithms; Students evaluate algorithms using time complexity expressions. Students examine the definition, implementation, and application of data structures: stacks, queues, linked lists, trees, and graphs. Students apply software engineering techniques to the design and development of large programs utilizing various data structures.
