Normally offered in the Spring semester only. The course is designed to provide students with a thorough introduction to the principles, concepts and terminology of biochemistry, with an emphasis on the structure and function of biomolecules, the role of intermediary metabolism in energy production and common biochemical laboratory techniques. Students will work problems and perform experiments related to these concepts. Topics include the chemistry and properties of the four groups of biological macromole-
