    Description
Lecture and field based course introducing students to various marine habitats in Southern California, including wetlands, coves, the rocky intertidal, and kelp for- ests. A particular emphasis will be placed on human interactions with the marine environment, especially the effects of urbanization and development within Los Angeles and their downstream impacts on marine systems. These discussions will be contrasted with additional lectures and discussions about the ways that California legislation has protected important marine habitats and resources.
