    Description
    This course examines the history of African Americans in the United States since the end of the American Civil War. It examines the significant incidents, laws, themes, experiences, and African Americans who helped to form American histo- ry. It addresses how African Americans have historically and now been oppressed by institutions, policies, social norms, and laws. It examines how African Americans have shaped American politics, society, and the economy, from Reconstruction to the Jim Crow era to the modern Civil Rights Movement, the Black Power Movement, Black Feminism, Social Justice, and the Black Lives Matter movement.
