- 3 UNITS Prerequisites: SOC 001 and (ENGL C1000 or ENGLISH 101X or 101Y or 101Z or E.S.L. 110) | Lecture: 3 hours This course is an introduction to the process of thinking, logic, and reasoning from a sociological perspective. The course provides instruction in methods of critical thinking, research design, argumentative writing, deductive and induc- tive reasoning, analytical evaluation of a variety of social issues, and how to detect and avoid fallacies.
