    Corequisite: MUSIC 217-1 | Advisory: MUSIC 321 or MUSIC 322 or MUSIC 323 or MUSIC 324 | Lecture: 3 hours This course, through ear training, sight singing, analysis, and dictation, incorporates the following concepts: rhythm and meter; basic properties of sound; intervals; diatonic scales and triads; diatonic chords, basic cadential formulas and phrase structure; dominant seventh; figured bass symbols; and non-harmonic tones. Development of skills in handwritten nota- tion is expected. This course is the first in a sequence of four.
