    TECHNOLOGY � (CSU) 3 UNITS Prerequisite: None | Lecture: 2 hours | Lab: 2 hours This course is an introduction to the Health Information Management (HIM) profession and the record keeping prac- tices in various health care delivery systems. Emphasis is placed on the development, maintenance, and content of patient health records, including format and documentation requirements, filing and number system, medical staff organi- zation, regulatory and accrediting agencies. HTHTEK103INTRODUCTIONTOBASICCODING�(CSU)3UNITS Prerequisites: HTHTEK 100 and BIOLOGY 033 or HLTHOCC 063 Lecture: 2 hours | Lab: 2 hours This course introduces the use of the International Classification of Diseases Clinical Modification (CM) codes for diagnoses and Procedural Coding System (PCS) to code inpatient procedures. Students learn to analyze clinical disease processes, use diagno- sis and procedural terminology, sequence and assign codes cor- rectly using current coding manuals.
