    Prerequisite: None| Lecture: 5 hours This course is for ESL students at the high-intermediate level who need to expand their linguistic and communicative com- petence in English to function successfully in their commu- nity. The course emphasizes level-appropriate grammar, vocabulary, listening/speaking, reading/writing, basic research, critical thinking, and 21st century skills in activities related to daily life, work, community, civics, current events, and college and career readiness. This class is the first of a two-course sequence.
