    Description
    Prerequisite: DANCETQ 321 | Lab: 3 hours This course is a beginning survey of common, codified styles of dance typically performed in a social setting as a couple or group. Three or four varying types of social dance are taught each semester from a list that includes: Waltz, Fox Trot, Samba, West Coast Swing, Danzon, or Disco. The dance his- tory and the cultural background are presented for each type of social dance covered in this course. Also, music selection, basic rhythms, and cultural influences on the dance and music of social dance are covered.
