    Description
    Prerequisite: None | Lab: 3 hours This course is an introductory survey of common, codified styles of dance typically performed in a social setting as a couple or group. Three or four varying types of social dance are taught each semester from a list that includes: American Rhumba, Cha-Cha-Cha, Line Dancing/Country-Western Swing, East Coast Swing, or American Tango. The dance his- tory and the cultural background are presented for each type of social dance covered in this course. Also, music selection, basic rhythms, and cultural influences on the dance and music of social dance are covered.
