Transfers ToNot transferableDescriptionThis laboratory course is designed to develop EMT clinical skill. Must have concurrent enrollment with E D A 010A. Through adherence to the D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) Basic Life Support Curriculum, the student will be given the opportunity to develop the necessary skills and abilities required to successfully pass the National Registry EMT (NREMT) certifying skills examination administered at the end of the course. Upon successful completion of E D A 010A and 010B, the student may apply to take the NREMT cognitive examination. Once passed, the EMT may apply to become a State of California EMT and then gain employment with an ambulance company, hospital tech and/or progress to paramedic training. With few exceptions, EMT is conducted at the basic life support level. English as a Second Language Placement Information Many English and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses have prerequisites--conditions that must be met prior to enrollment. The placement process uses information from student applications to determine which prerequisites have already been met and which courses are available as a result. The results are available in the student portal at http://mycollege.laccd.edu/ in the "Student Status" tile, and then the "Placement Results" link. For students who graduated from an accredited US high school or earned a GED or California High School Equivalency Certificate, English placement is based on their high school grade point average (HSGPA) as follows: � HSGPA 1.9 or above results in an "ET � Transfer-level English Composition" placement. This enables enrollment in ENGL C1000 or E.S.L. 110, either of which satisfy the English Composition requirement for majors that require it. � HSGPA below 1.9 results in an "ETS � Transfer-level English Composition with Support" placement. This enables enrollment in ENGLISH 101X, ENGLISH 101Y, or E.S.L. 110, all of which satisfy the English Composition requirement for majors that require it. For students who did not provide a US high school GPA or who did not graduate from a US high school (or equivalent as described above), a placement of "EN � No English Placement" is assigned. Such students may complete their placement using the "English/ESL Survey" linked to the "Student Status" tile "Placement Results" link on the website described above. That survey will enable them to choose either the ET or ETS placement, or placement into ESL courses.
