    Description
This course introduces students to the statistical concepts and methods most widely used in behavioral and social science research. Topics will include sampling, probability, central tendency, standard deviation, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. The course will emphasize identifying correct analyses for testing hypotheses, such as t-tests, ANOVA, correlations, linear regression, and chi-square tests. These will then be tested using statistical software tools in a computer lab (SPSS, STAT, R, Jamovi, or Excel). The course is recommended as the second course in the Psychology program sequence following completion of their PSYCH 1 Introduction to Psychology course and is intended to prepare students for the data analysis and APA-style Results section writing portions of their PSYCH 2 Research Methods course.
