Included is the study of the origins, judicial interpretations, and societal effects of the Constitution. The course emphasizes the legal system with specific focus on the role of the United States Supreme Court in issuing decisions of a societally relevant and interdisciplinary nature. The controversial role of law in political and social issues is examined with regard to all areas of United States Supreme Court jurisdiction. Law is analyzed as an integral part of the political process and its effects on society.
