It is the first of a two-course sequence designed to introduce grammatical terminology and guide intermediate ESL students to mastery of the seven major parts of speech. ESL 610A emphasizes the use of verb tenses and agreement between subject and verb, article and noun, as well as verb and adverb. It emphasizes the correct construction of phrases, including noun, verb, and prepositional phrases, and simple sentences.
