Issues and topics will include the principles of genetics and evolution, human variation and biocultural adaptations, comparative primate anatomy and behavior, and the fossil evidence for human evolution. The philosophy of science and the scientific method serve as foundations to the course. Laboratory exercises will explore cellular structure, genetics, the evolutionary process, human variation, human and non-human primate anatomy and behavior, the primate/hominin fossil record, and analysis of human skeletal material.
