This course emphasizes Orem's Self-Care Theory of developmental self-care requisites, health deviations and universal self-care requisites as it relates to women and newborns. The content involves the study of gynecological problems, deviations from normal pregnancy, care during prenatal, intrapartal, and postpartal periods, of normal and high-risk pregnancy. In addition, the assessment and care of the normal newborn is included.
