    Description
    This course is designed to reinforce basic/intermediate skills and facilitate learning of second-semester medication administration concepts and providing safe, quality, patient-centered care to the maternal, newborn, and pediatric, young, middle and older adult patient experiencing pathophysiological alterations requiring medical and/or surgical interventions. Students will practice skills through individualized, peer, group, and computer-mediated instruction. Incorporates cognitive, technical, interpersonal, and ethical/legal skills into safe and effective person-centered care. Skills performed in the nursing laboratory on campus facilitate the transfer of knowledge from the classroom to the clinical setting. The State of California requires that this course maintain an instructor-to-student ratio of 1/10. This is a web-enhanced course; computer and internet access are required. Students must complete all course hours and assignments as required. Students must receive 75% on their final as well as in the course to remain in the nursing program. NURS 8 is offered as a concurrent course with NURS 5, NURS 6, and NURS 7 during the second semester of the program. A course grade of D or below will result in failure in all concurrent courses. Students must be accepted into the Lassen Community College Registered Nursing Program.
