Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis is the second medical surgical nursing course in a series of four devoted to learning the professional aspects of therapeutic nursing care. The continued focus is on the key concepts in the care of patient's health, illness and medical/surgical conditions utilizing the nursing process in the care of younger, middle, and older adults. Also included is the role of patient advocate and manager of care, utilizing principles of therapeutic communication, nutrition, culture, and teaching learning concepts. Client abuse prevention and reporting and concepts of sexuality will be covered. This is a web-enhanced course; computer and internet access are required. Students must complete all course hours and assignments as required. Students must receive 75% on their final as well as in the course to remain in the nursing program. NURS 5 is offered as a concurrent course with NURS 6, NURS 7, and NURS 8 during the second semester of the program. A course grade of D or below will result in failure in all concurrent courses.
