Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is a continuation on the nursing care of childbearing families using nursing and development theories. It includes complications of pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. Explores both physical and behavioral health alterations in the pediatric population. Biopsychosocial factors, legal, ethical, and cultural considerations related to pregnancy, birth, and newborn periods will be covered. This course includes integrated maternal/child concepts with 20 instructional hours focused on obstetric populations, 20 instructional hours focused on pediatric populations, and 11 instructional hours focused on maternal/child populations with behavioral health disorders. This is a web-enhanced course; computer and internet access are required. Students must complete all course hours and assignments as required. Students must receive 75% on their final as well as in the course to remain in the nursing program. NURS 10 is offered as a concurrent course with NURS 9, NURS 11, and NURS 12 during the third semester of the program. A course grade of D or below will result in failure in all concurrent courses.
