IAFF Fire Ground Survival course (Free online at IAFF website) *Must be completed within three years prior to the Fire Fighter Rescue and RIC Operations class. 5.5 hours lecture/26.5 hours lab The Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) Operations course trains fire fighters to rescue a downed fire fighter in an immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) environment was developed in the continuing effort to reduce the number of fire fighter injuries and deaths that occur regularly. This hands-on course provides the knowledge and skills needed to perform fire fighter rescue to reduce fire fighter injuries and deaths. Topics include the fire fighter rescue mindset; size up, tool assembly, and softening the structure; search, assessment, air delivery, and rescue; and Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) roles, responsibilities, strategies, and operations. Material fee required and subject to change. A supplemental $81.00 fee will be charged including a $5.00 materials fee for student manual flash drive and a $76.00 State Fire Training FSTEP certification fee is due to Lassen Community College and will be collected at the time of registration. This course can be repeated as needed to maintain certification.
