    Description
    This course is designed for students interested in mountaineering. Topics include mountaineering ratingsystems, mountaineering equipment, knots/hitches and related rope techniques, and mountaineering fundamentals. In addition, studentswill be introduced to decision-making, risk management, and Leave No Trace (LNT) principles as they pertain to mountaineering. ADVISORY: Students should be capable of carrying a backpack weighing approximately 40-45+ lbs while hiking 5+ miles per day with at least 2,000ft ofelevation change. Students may use their personal equipment if it meets industry standard and is in good working condition; otherwise, program equipment will beprovided. Overnight camping may be involved with this class.
