Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is designed to introduce students to wilderness education and outdoor leadership as a professional practice. Students will examine the broad scope of the profession while exploring its value to society. Emphasis is placed on the theory and practice of outdoor leadership. Topics include historical and philosophical foundations of outdoor recreation and education, theories of leadership, judgment and decision making, teaching and facilitation, safety and risk management, and environmental stewardship. In addition to class time, this course includes two field components; 1) the course will include participation in a challenge course experience, and 2) the course will include participation in a service learning experience.Usually HeldFri Sat Sun 8:00am–4:25pm, Tue Thu 10:00am–11:50am
