The course will focus on social institutions and the problems and inequalities they produce, including racism, sexism, poverty, crime, violence, terrorism, medical crises, crimes against the environment, and white-collar crime. Emphasis will also include the dynamics of the social construction of social problems and debates related to addressing and solving social problems.
