    HEA 131BD or HEA 140E: Course Completion Record for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or equivalent. AND Must have Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) or Physical Ability Test (BIDDLE) certification. AND FIR 191P or FIR 170K with a grade of "PASS" AND Completion of the following online courses: IS 100.c (ICS 100) - Introduction to the Incident Command System; IS 200.c (ICS 200) - Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response; IS 700.b (ICS 700) - An Introduction to the National Incident Management System; and IS 800.c (ICS 800) - National Response Framework, An Introduction. The instructor of record will verify prerequisites prior to the first class meeting.

    Description
    This course is the first of two which culminates into the instructional requirement for Firefighter I certification through the California State Fire Marshal's office. Instruction includes fire organization and responsibility, cultural diversity, safety, use of self-contained breathing apparatus, fire service apparatus and equipment operation, hose and nozzles, ladders, ropes and knots, Incident Command System, and physical conditioning. This is a physically demanding course and the curriculum conforms to standards for certification by the California State Board of Fire Services. Students must complete all summative tests with a minimum score of 80%. 100 hours to be announced.
