The course examines the social, cultural and economic causes and consequences of prejudice, discrimination, and racism. It offers a sociological framework to address immigration, the growing diversity in the United States, and racial and ethnic struggles worldwide. As an honors course enrichment is achieved through limited class size, seminar format, more extensive reading and discussion of major concepts, theoretical perspectives, and empirical findings.
