Either a recent course in SPAN 110 or a recent 3 year high school Spanish course with good retention should enable the student to succeed in SPAN 200. A continuation of SPAN 110 covering the uses of all Spanish tenses with special emphasis on the subjunctive and imperative modes. This course requires the use of increasingly complex language structures and vocabulary to develop the functional competence required to communicate beyond survival needs and to discuss and express opinions on abstract topics related to the arts, lifestyle, linguistics, and literature at the intermediate level.
