It is open to students who complete French 100 and French 110 or their equivalent. It provides instruction in the four language skills of listening comprehension, speaking,reading and writing at the beginning intermediate to intermediate levels. Intensive study of linguistic structures and vocabulary is emphasized to build communication skills in French. In addition, the study of authentic materials from a wide variety of sources including, text, images, audio recordings, video and film acquaints students with the diversity of French and francophone culture and civilization. The instructor will also guide students in their investigation of French and francophone history and literature through readings and lectures to prepare them for a major in French or to provide them with a strong general background in French and francophone studies.
