It is an introductory investigation that explores the foundational contexts (historical, sociopolitical, cultural, and economic); literary origins and influences; and characteristic tropes, topics, themes, and traditions related to Chicana/o literature. The surveyed works may include excerpts in several languages and dialects, including but not limited to Spanish, Spanglish, Caló, Nahuatl, and Mayan.
