Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course provides the clinical training to prepare the paramedic student intern to render pre-hospital advanced life support within an organized EMS system based on course content equivalent to the U.S. Department of Transportation's National EMS Education Standards (2009). The student will put together all didactic and skills training to address medical and traumatic emergencies in multiple hospital departments: critical care, emergency, obstetrics, nursery, pediatrics, and surgery. The student will observe overall administration of advanced life support care in a hospital and will assume responsibilities for advanced assessments, treatment, medication administration, use of equipment, and communication skills under the supervision of a registered nurse, physician assistant, or physician approved by the Local EMS Authority. The course is intense, requires more than usual study hours, TBA requirements, and the student’s total dedication for successful completion.
