The course provides instruction and practice in critical thinking and forming literature based arguments through the close study of the major genres of literature: poetry, fiction, drama, and the novel. Students receive instruction in analytical and argumentative writing by studying literature, criticism, and identification of sound and fallacious reasoning in assessments of literature and literary criticism.
