Transfers ToCSUDescriptionA survey of painting from the origins of cave painting to modern times. Examines the role of painting as a form of visual communication in historical and cultural context from a world view, exploring a variety of painters, styles and techniques. Introduces students to the study of acrylic painting in transparent and opaque media, techniques of media manipulation and application, compositional development, and the effect of color on content and meaning. The preservation and handling of finished works, as well as the presentation and display of artworks are explored. Students will provide their own brushes, paint, and painting surfaces.
