Transfers ToCSUDescriptionFocuses on the United States Constitution and its relevance to criminal justice issues. Beginning with an overview of our legal system and some instruction in basic legal research, the course examines constitutional amendments influencing the criminal justice system such as freedom of speech and the press, gun control, constitutional search and seizure, the exclusionary rule, due process of law, confessions, the right to counsel and a fair trial, bail, fines, and punishment. Students will also appraise the impact of constitutional principles in the fields of law enforcement, corrections, and the practice of law.
