Transfers ToCSUDescriptionThis course is designed to familiarize nursing students with the knowledge needed for safe administration of medications in the clinical setting. Students will be introduced to basic pharmacological concepts, including pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacokinetics. Special consideration for the nursing role in administering drugs from a variety of major drug classifications will be presented. As the students utilize the nursing process, emphasis will be placed on safety, critical thinking, pharmacologic principles related to aging, patient education and effective communication across the healthcare continuum.
