Emphasis is placed on the cultural and ethnic roots of rock music styles, with emphasis on the African-American contribution to multiple sub-genres of rock music. Other multi-cultural influences in rock music will be explored, including Latin American, Mexican American, Afro-Cuban, and Caribbean influenced music.
