    Description
    This course examines literary innovation in the late Victorian, Modern, Harlem Renaissance, and Postmodern periods in Britain and America. Some areas of focus include race, postcolonial identity, gender and sexuality, industrialism, and the economy. Students will explore the historical contexts that influenced these literary traditions and movements and the role of literature in creating both historical, literary continuity, and change. PREREQUISITE: Eligibility for college-level composition (English 1A) or equivalent, as determined by college assessment or other appropriate method. ENGL 6A, 6B, and 6C can be taken in any order.
