In this course topics covered include the history and philosophy of the human services, the needs of various client groups, and differences between practice settings. Practice settings may include schools, homeless shelters, criminal detention centers, hospice, medical and mental health clinics, victims' service centers, and other human service agencies. Goals and services of various human service agencies will be explored through field visits, case studies, service learning, and guest speakers.
