This course includes basic music theory terminology, rhythm and pitch notation, clefs, scales, key signatures, intervals, triads (and inversions), and seventh chords. Basic keyboard will also be introduced, along with a concise outline of the major style periods of music history. The ability to read music is strongly recommended and desirable. This course provides essential background for more advanced courses in music theory.
