    Description
    54 hours lecture per term. This course covers building codes; regulations; standards and specifications concerning life-safety issues as they relate to both residential and commercial interior design projects. Building construction basics and systems for fire protection, plumbing, mechanical and electrical are examined, along with occupancy types, means of egress, universal design and sustainability as they pertain to the built environment. Special attention is given to CALGreen Code and California Title 24 energy efficiency standards. The role of building officials and building departments are explored. Field trips may be required outside of regularly-scheduled class time. (Degree Credit) (CSU)
