    54 hours lecture per term. This course explores the role of the assistant teacher in which students focus on the beginning practical experiences in an early childhood classroom setting. Students focus on establishing relationships with children and developing guidance, observation, play entry, and collaboration techniques in facilitating early learning processes. Students will complete a total of 45 service-learning hours in the CDES Laboratory School or surrounding preschool classroom settings, under the supervision of a preschool teacher with a Master Teacher level permit or above (i.e., CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing), in addition to the class lectures. This course has the following requirements: Proof of measles, pertussis, flu vaccinations (optional), and a current negative TB test, per Senate Bill 792. (Degree Credit) (CSU)
