    Description
    72 hours lecture and 18 hours lab per term. This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of American Sign Language and Deaf culture. It includes development of appropriate linguistic/cultural behaviors and awareness of and respect for Deaf culture. Topics will include a focus on the historical, artistic, and cultural influence of the Deaf community in mainstream society. This course is comparable to two years of high school ASL. Required attendance at a Deaf cultural event outside of class time. Letter Grade or Pass/No Pass option. (Degree Credit) (CSU) (UC) AA GE, CSU GE, IGETC
